R.C. Transport is accepting applications for a part-time or full-time local driver based in Athens, Tennessee. Starting pay is $20 per hour.

This position is primarily home daily and uses automatic equipment for local and short-haul dry van freight.

R.C. Transport is based in Athens, Tennessee, between Knoxville and Chattanooga. Drivers communicate directly with a small dispatch team that knows the freight, appointments, and equipment.

Schedule: Local schedules vary based on customer freight and pickup and delivery appointments. Part-time and full-time availability, expected days, and typical start times will be discussed during the interview.

Job Responsibilities

What you will do

  • Operate a tractor-trailer safely for local and short-haul dry van freight.
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Arrive for pickup and delivery appointments on time.
  • Communicate delays, detention, equipment concerns, and delivery status.
  • Protect freight and company equipment.
  • Submit required paperwork and proof-of-delivery information promptly.
  • Follow DOT regulations and company safety requirements.
Minimum Qualifications

What the position requires

  • Valid Class A CDL.
  • Current DOT medical certification.
  • Recent, verifiable tractor-trailer experience.
  • Acceptable motor vehicle record and employment history.
  • Ability to pass required DOT drug testing.
  • Ability to satisfy FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse requirements.
  • Dependable communication and professional equipment care.
